Demand for Indonesian helpers likely to fall as employers must bear cost of placement fee: Agencies

The association that represents employment agencies in Singapore said demand for Indonesian domestic workers could drop by up to 40%. This comes as Indonesian authorities said employers must bear the cost of their helper’s placement fee from January 2021. The Association of Employment Agencies said the new rules could add up to an extra $3,000 out of pocket for prospective employers and they could end up looking elsewhere.
