Covid infections rising in England despite fall in daily reported cases

Coronavirus infection levels have continued to climb in England, despite a recent fall in daily reported cases, as experts cautioned that the coming months could be something of a rollercoaster.
According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, based on swabs collected from randomly selected households, about one in 65 people in the community in England had Covid in the week ending 24 July, up from one in 75 the week before. The survey suggests infection levels have also risen in Wales and Northern Ireland, although Scotland has experienced a decline.
