Former commissioner Anne Longfield’s inquiry testimony exposed how future generations will pay price for government’s poor decisions

Amid the scrutiny of what government decisions were made and why, some salacious details have emerged out of the continuing Covid inquiry. Last week, we learned the Ministry of Defence’s chief scientific adviser called Rishi Sunak “Dr Death” in reference to his “eat out to help out” scheme of August 2020.

Other gossipy revelations include cabinet secretary Simon Case joking that it was Carrie Johnson, partner of Boris Johnson, who was really in charge, and Sir Patrick Vallance, the government’s chief scientific adviser, describing Boris Johnson’s decision-making as “bipolar” in his diary.
