Ghislaine Maxwell: jury weighs charges as judge warns Covid could derail trial

Judge Alison Nathan says they face ‘a high and escalating risk that jurors and trial participants may need to quarantine’

The judge in Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex-trafficking trial on Tuesday told lawyers that deliberations could be held this weekend, warning that the surge in Covid-19 cases could derail the trial if a juror fell ill before a verdict were reached.

“We now face a high and escalating risk that jurors and trial participants may need to quarantine,” Judge Alison Nathan said “thus disrupting trial, putting at risk our ability to complete this trial.”
