Market expectations of a pivot on China’s zero-Covid policy are based on little but hope

The exuberance with which markets reacted to even hints of China easing its pandemic controls shows how desperate investors are for good news. Just as with expectations of the US Federal Reserve easing the rate of interest rate rises, hopes of China pivoting ignore evidence to the contrary.
