Protecting jobs must be the main priority amid coronavirus pandemic

On Tuesday, a group of mainland and locally funded enterprises made a joint undertaking not to lay off employees despite economic hardship. Separately, the wage subsidies scheme set up by the government to help businesses tide over the storm was further tweaked to cover more workers.We do not know whether the announcements were coordinated or merely coincidental.
