Serbia
The Serbian Government has announced that foreigners who were lawfully in Serbia when the State of Emergency was introduced on 15 March, may remain in Serbia until the State of Emergency ends.
The Government of Serbia has declared a State of Emergency in relation to the COVID−19 pandemic. All international airports are closed to regular commercial traffic until at least 18 May (when flights may resume, although the Government of Serbia has said this depends on external factors beyond its control). All borders are closed to non-Serbians.
The Government of Serbia has instituted a mandatory 28-day self-isolation period for anyone who entered the country on March 14 2020 or later.
There is a nationwide curfew in place from 6:00pm to 5:00am daily. There is an extended May Day long weekend curfew from 6:00pm Thursday 30 April to 5:00am Saturday 2 May. Curfew hours for the weekend vary and are generally announced mid-week.
Citizens older than 65 in urban areas and over 70 in rural areas must stay indoors at all times, but are allowed to walk for up to an hour, during periods when other people are subject to curfews, within 600 metres of their place of residence.
Those over 65 are also permitted to purchase groceries for a set period of two or three hours each week. This allocated time changes regularly, but is currently 4:00am to 7:00am on Thursdays.
All public transport has been suspended. Public transport in Novi Sad and Kraguevac will re-start on 4 May. Public transport in Belgrade and Nis will re-start on 8 May. Inter-city transport will recommence as of 4 May.
Restaurants, cafes, and many retail stores will be permitted to reopen as of 4 May. Shopping malls will be permitted to reopen as of 8 May.
These restrictions may change at short notice. Monitor local media and the Serbian Government portal for updates. If you remain in Serbia, follow the advice of local authorities, take care to protect yourself from exposure to COVID−19 and ensure you have arrangements in place for an extended stay. Keep in contact with family and friends back home so they know you’re safe and well.
