UN: Virus Crisis Is Universal While Impact Is Disproportionate
May.20 — Elliott Harris, assistant secretary-general for economic development and chief economist in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, looks at how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting the global economy. The pandemic is projected to remove four years of growth from the global economy — or almost $8.5 trillion in total output — according to a study by the UN, which is expecting a 3.2% reduction in global GDP this year.
