COVID-19 circuit breaker: Food delivery companies see surge in rider applications

Food delivery companies in Singapore are seeing more people applying to join as delivery riders as the demand for their services surge amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Deliveroo said it has hired around 1,000 riders in April — similar to the number for the first three months of the year. At Grab, weekly applications have gone up by 80% since March. Likewise, foodpanda said it has hired more riders to add to its fleet of over 8,000.
