Elections Department expects to deploy 20% more public officers at next GE
The Elections Department (ELD) said it expects to deploy 20% more public officers at the next general election as voters will be spread out across more polling stations. That adds up to an additional 6,000 officials on duty, compared to some 30,000 who were involved in GE 2015. The ELD had previously announced that the number of polling stations will be increased from 880 to 1,100 to ensure safe voting should the election be held during the COVID-19 outbreak.
