Singapore Strait accounts for three of 11 piracy and armed robbery incidents in Asia in May
Three of the 11 reported incidents of armed robbery and piracy against ships in Asia in May happened in the Singapore Strait. ReCAAP, a regional information sharing centre on piracy, said it is concerned about the continued occurrence of incidents in the Strait. Asia saw its highest number of such incidents in the last four years over the January-to-May period. Of the 49 incidents in Asia, 15 took place in the Singapore Strait. The other incidents occurred mostly in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
