Singaporeans donated $90 million in first five months of 2020, equal to total donations in 2019

S$90 million in COVID-19 related donations have been received through platforms like the Community Chest in the first five months of 2020. The donations equal the total amount collected for the whole of last year. However, there was a decrease in donations not directly related to COVID-19. Community Chest projected a near 30% drop, while the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) observed a drop of up to 80% for some of the charities in sectors not directly linked to COVID-19.
