Victims lost more than S$41 million to scams in Q1 2020



More than S$41 million was lost to scams in Q1 2020 — almost 30% more than the same period in 2019. E-commerce was the top scam, with at least S$1.3 million was cheated through the sale of items such as face masks and electronic products. The numbers also more than doubled to nearly 1,200 cases. Social media impersonation scams were next on the list. The number of cases increased more than 10-fold to 466, with at least a million dollars scammed.
