Trump scraps convention: Republican Party meeting in Florida cancelled over coronavirus “flare up”

Donald Trump has cancelled the Republican party convention in Florida over concerns about the coronavirus. The US has now surpassed four million cases. The convention is typically a week long meeting of party officials and representatives — who formally nominate their candidate for the White House ticket. Republicans had already moved the event to Florida because of social distancing rules introduced in North Carolina. The president told reporters he doesn't believe it's the right time for a traditional convention.
