NYE party of more than 100 people at Clarke Quay “not acceptable”, says Lawrence Wong

Investigations have revealed that the New Year’s Eve celebration at Clarke Quay was not an organised event and more than 100 people “got caught in the moment” and gathered at the location with many flouting the rules, said Minister Lawrence Wong. “I can understand why people are keen to celebrate the new year, but such actions are not acceptable, especially when we are still in the midst of a pandemic,” he said in a news conference on Wednesday (Jan 5).
