Hongkongers are living longer but not healthier as ageing population puts extra burden on health care

The latest census figures suggest the proportion of Hong Kong’s population aged 65 or above has increased from about 7 per cent in 1981 to 20 per cent in 2021. That means one in five people in the city is elderly.
